Things to do in ottawa in august??

hi everyone-

i am going to ottawa from august 15-18th for my 1 year anniversary with my hubby. we are looking for things to do there since i haven't been to ottawa since i was really little (my hubby's sister lives there..)

we're looking for stuff to do that won't cost us a fortune!

does anyone know how much the train to montreal costs?? also how long does it take (could we do a day trip at all??)

  1. ADD ON: when booking your train ticket, make sure to book it for "MONTREAL DOWNTOWN". There are two Montreal stations, one is downtown and one is in Laval (residential part, close to Montreal but there's nothing there).

    I think I answered you before with recommendations.... there are tour guides in Ottawa and every cab driver will know which places are nice but the ones I recommended are good. http://www.ottawatourism.ca/

    Don't forget the canal tours in Ottawa.

    As for Montreal: the train ride is about $80 and takes about two hours with the train...Check http://www.viarail.ca/

    You can easily do a day trip in Montreal... just take an early train and leave at night... pick the places you really want to see in Montreal like Old Montreal and some parks, attractions. I don't know how old you are but if you're into shopping then go to Simons!! http://www.simons.ca/

    That store is only in Quebec and has great clothes for men and women for great prices.
