besides the obvious things like listening to music and reading. I won't have an electrical socket b/c I'm traveling coach. It's a 5.5 hour ride.

also - will it be obvious where to get off, or do you have to walk through multiple cars in order to get off? I definitely don't want to miss my stop.

    6) Buy a small remote control television with headphones and watch it.

    7) Bring your laptop and log onto the internet.

    8) That new PSP portable game console where they say in the commercial "Dude, get your own."

  3. puzzles - crossword, Sudoku, write happy New Year cards to friends...

As far as getting off, see what they do for other stops.  Do they announce them?  Ask one of the train condcutors.  Learn the names of the stops just before yours so you know when you are getting close.

  4. sleep. lap top. ipod. read a book or newspaper.

same as a long air line flight

  5. 5.5 Hours?  I could not imagine even being remotely bored on a train trip that long.  As with anything bring a good book some booze and you are set.  Trust me you will be fine I took a 48 bus trip from NJ to CO and just let the miles go by with a good book.  If you are worried about getting off at the right stop tell some other travelers where you are going, in case you fall asleep or space the stop.  Enjoy the trip.

  6. Hijack the train and run it into a busy intersection.

  7. purchase a psp gaming system and watch movies, listen to music or play games on it! even with other people on the train. did someone say lan partay?!!!!

  8. I'm not very good at crosswords so I like to purchase something called "Fill it ins". It should be right beside the crosswords and they're really fun to work on. It's like a crossword, only there's a list of words given and you have to figure out how they all fit into the crossword using every word.

    It's fun and time consuming!

    Have fun! :)

  9. Playing chess in your mind, thinking about your ultimate lover, making up new words (in your head), thinking about anything (in your head), working on your posture, seducing other people on the train with some seductive actions, sleeping.

You can ask the ticket taker for help about where to get off.

    Have fun--

  10. As to disembarking at your destination,  ask the conductor.  It depends on the length of the train and the station platform, as well as how many doors the conductor will open for passengers.  But they will usually announce the station and any special instructions (eg which doors will open) well before you stop.

    As for what to do:

    - talk with other passengers

    - play games (crossword, Sudoku, etc.)

    - read a book about the region thru which you are traveling to get an idea about the scenery and towns

    - take a few magazines or Reader's Digest

    - write a short story

    - knit a sweater

    - in your head,  sing "Nine-hundred thousand, nine-hundred, ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall"  and see how far you get.

  11. Listen to music off a MP3,Ipod or whatever u have.Crossword puzzles,Sudoku, etc.Fall asleep or take time to look out the window in between amusing yourself.Oh and if you can write or draw do that-try to write a poem
