  1. I frequently take a 3 hour ride... I sleep for about 45 minutes, read for 30, nap again for 30 minutes, then have a snack and watch the scenery go by and then read the rest of the trip.

There are SOME on that train (a commuter run) who have a regular card game going on, and others who watch DVD's on their laptop.

  2. If you have an ipod or an MP3 player of some sort, record "The Secret" which you can get as a book on tape. Not only does it lift your spirits, but it's a good 3 or 4 hours of listening pleasure, and since it's very popular, it can be the source of some excellent conversations.

If you can't find that, go to the public library and look for books on CD to record on your ipod. One I enjoyed very much was BLINK. Check it out!

  3. Do you have a portable video game player? That keeps me occupied on long trips.

  4. I did the same 2 years ago, and believe me it soon passes. Read your book, and start up a conversation with the person you are sat next to, I did, and she is now one of my wife's best friends, and we regularly keep in touch. It is a pleasant, and scenic journey, although we travelled from Lostwithiel, to St Austell first, and that was a nighmare. I live in Cornwall too Vicky, nice innit???

  5. Read, iPod, sleep, look out the window
