Things to do while living in Lyon, France?

I am moving to Lyon, France in September and I am going to spend 6 months there. What are the must-do things while I'm there? I am looking for some must-do things in Lyon, but things in France in general (and even Europe as a whole) are also welcome

Go eat in "bouchons"! They are cute little restaurants famous in Lyon. Ask anyone there, they'll know!

in the region you can visit the medieval village Pérouge, les grottes de la Balme (caves), le parc des oiseaux (one of Europe most popular bird park) which is beautiful (Villars les Dombes -Ain).
