  1. mp3+pen and small notebook

    write/draw whatever

  2. - carry a MP3 player or video game along

    - call your friends/relatives

    - flirt with someone on the train ( this is really a good opportunity)

  3. Have a pep talk with your neighbour and make them your friends. If you have no choice like that watch the beautiful landscape outside and enjoy the cool breeze.

Don't follow the first method unless you find a good charactered neighbour.Analyse his/her character first and then proceed.Do not eat the snacks they provide you,as they may contain seductives...Enjoy your journey!all the best

  4. get your mp4, nice novels, ghost stories if you like

makes some sandwhices or crispy crakers to munch while reading, bring your nice flufly pillow to take a nap. carry a laptop if you have , you can wacth movies even in your mp4. if you married or you have your bf by yourside then enjoyyyyyyy......eeeeeeehaaaa

  5. Sorry about the theft and sleeping thing, that really does suck.

I've had things lifted in an airport so I know how tht feels.

If you really plan on staying awake, you will need to be rested when you begin your journey.

Perhpas a portable DVD player? I like to read and do puzzles but what works for one person may not work for someone else.

Make sure your cell phone is charged, you can catch up on your visiting, most areas trains travel through have at least some cell phone coverage.

There are quite a few things you can do to protect yourelf from being ripped off if you do fall asleep.

Make it difficult for a thief and they will move to an easier target, secure straps, wrapped around your arm, or something permanent helps. protect your things so that it is not easy to grab and most thieves will move to someone that is not so well protected.

    Enjoy your trip !

  6. well a few gin & tonics and some chocolate sounds good to me; also a spot of people watching - fascinating!!!
