Things to fall right for Strong Suit in OLBG Park Stakes at Doncaster
Lethal Force seemed to be given too much rope, when he recorded a narrow win over Strong Suit at Newbury last month.
Strong Suit, who missed the glory only by a neck’s distance, can dish out revenge and emerge on top in the Group 2 OLBG Park Stakes at Doncaster on Saturday, September 15, 2012.
Richard Hannon’s charge should be forgiven for his latest trouncing at the highest level the sport. In the hands of Richard Hughes, he was completely unable to trouble the leaders and as a result, finished 7th behind Society Rock in the Group
1 Betfred Sprint Cup (British Champions Series) at Haydock.
It was an embarrassing loss, but there were a few positives as well. Owned by Qatar Racing Limited, the colt was behind just by a few lengths. Stepping down to this grade is likely to boost up his confidence, and one can hope for an improved act this time.
Strong Suit will face seven high-quality runners in today’s big event. According to the schedule, the contest will be begun at 16:15 GMT. It carries a handsome prize of £56,710, which will go alongside the ultimate champion.
Lethal Force was lucky to enjoy the feat at Newbury. His confidence, however, would be at a high after a good win. The Clive Cox-trained cannot be completely written off, but it is hard to expect him to be equally good in this company.
Soul can improve significantly. In the Newbury battle, Saeed Bin Suroor’s trainee was sixth behind Lethal Force. Under Frankie Dettori, he was awkward in the beginning.
Although he made some progress afterwards, it was almost impossible for him to reach the winner. Moreover, he got weakened inside the final furlong, and eventually failed to make an impact.
As far as Libranno’s chances are concerned, a few others are a bit more persuasive even if he immediately returns to form. It is Penitent’s first run over this short since 2009.
Lethal Force is not on our shortlist. Soul is certainly a threat, but still the bettors should stick with Strong Suit, who is open to improvement. Good luck to all the horses.
