  1. i am in Malaysia on the holiday at the moment. Tech stuff is the same price as the UK if not more, lots and lots of fakes. All branded labels are the same price as UK as well. Food is cheap especially to eat in take away, hot (+35 normally), craft is amazing. And about travel adaptors: I got tons of them but all sockets are the same as in UK. I don't know where are u staying as I am at KL and it is just one big shopping mall 24/7 with hot food everywhere. Allways ask for better price. People are very polite and most of them speak English

  2. better shopping for handicrafts....

  3. Many Fake Stuff here, they like copying the signature brands and sell it like you think it is really the original. If you like to buy signature brands better buy inside the Malls.

When you take a taxi always insist to follow the meters if not then find other taxi or go to taxi coupon booth. Before taking a taxi always check first if the destination you want to go can get and take a train, much better a train fast and cheap.

  4. Hi!

I was born in Malaysia but live in the UK.

There's LOADS of fake stuff so just beware of that. To avoid it just don't go to the markets. Sometimes there are small stalls in the centre too.

The roads are so hectic. Its not like the UK where we have so many rules and restrictions so be careful. Taxis can be quite pricey so negotiate if you're lucky but most of the time they won't.

The tech stuff yeh. If you go to big shopping centres like Berjaya Times Square there are loads of gadgets from laptops, computers, cameras. Sometimes Malaysia create their own tech stuff so you can't get it anywhere else in the world. Eg. their own mp3's. Not apple, sony, canon, smasung. Just their own brand names and the gaddgets are cool so you can buy one for a treat.

The shopping is endless. Malaysia contains one of the worlds biggest shopping centres and you can go to the market and get cheap clothing and i guess its sometimes worth it but if you go to the shops its even better. Sometimes the clothes are a bit pricey so you'll need quite a lot of cash in hand if you're on a shopping spree.

The best bit of Malaysia is the food!!

To get the best food you need to go to the market or poorer bits and resturants which open at night etc because thats the real food. Its a lot cheaper and so much more worth it than the food you get in the shopping centres!

Visit the rainforest because you might not be able to again and its so breathtaking athough it is hot and humid.

  5. beware of fake stuff....anyway Welcome to Malaysia

  6. Make sure any products you buy have the proper trademarks and are not fakes. If you haggle then you will probably get at least 15% off the price of a product. I would not recommend buying anything too expensive.

  7. There are loads of fake stuff but thats the point. Looks like the real thing but probably costs 10s or even 100s times cheaper. A lot of tourists come because of this.  A lot of things will be cheap especially with english pound (1 pound=around 6.2 m'sia ringgit). Crafts, local clothes (look 4 kain batek = kar-ain  bar-take) There are things like mcdonalds, kfc, pizza hut, etc but try the local food. I recommend u to try: Nasi Lemak = na-see  ler-mak

          Durian (its a fruit btw) = doo-ree-yan

Roti Canai (has many varieties) = row-tee  cha-nai

Drinks: Teh Tarik (tea n milk with m'sian twist) = teh  tar-rake

Sirap Bandong (pink coloured drink) = see-rap  ban-dong

Cendol (definitely shuld try it) = chain-dol

Air Batu Campur = just say ABC when ordering it

email me 4 more info :)
