Things we learnt from Barcelona’s recent form – Part 1
There is only one club that has won everything in one year’s time and that is the Spanish side Barcelona. No one can forget how they owned the show throughout the year 2009 as they won six trophies in a single year.
Under their new coach Josep Pep Guardiola, Barcelona started to play the famous “tiki taka” football and they became one of the most successful clubs and the best side of this era by a mile. This is not because they are a team that won everything in a single
year but mostly and more deeply because of their youth academy.
The Catalan giants, recently and in the past, have produced quality players and all these players are a big name in the world at the moment. Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique, Victor Valdes. These three players are a defensive wall. With Puyol and Pique in their
favourite centre back positions, and with Valdes acting as a goal stopper for the Catalan side, teams find it difficult to score goals.
The Catalan giants have also made players like Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas and Sergio Busquets. These players are midfield sensations. With Fabregas shining for the North London side Arsenal, the rest of the three midfielders are currently
playing under the Blaugrana jersey and they are definitely doing wonders for the team.
Andres Iniesta is definitely one of the best attacking midfielders at the moment. He is a player who never comes under pressure and helps the team win games. He was the one who scored a last second winner against the English side Chelsea, back in the 2009
UEFA Champions League semi final and he was also the one who scored the last minute winning goal for the Spaniards and helped them win the FIFA World Cup 2010.
Besides Iniesta, there is Xavi Hernandez who is considered to be the best midfielder of this era. Xavi makes the game look so simple and easy through his one touch and pin point passing. Xavi Hernandez was the one who completed the most amounts of passes
during the FIFA World Cup 2010 and was also the leading assist player during the last season of the Spanish La Liga.
Xavi Hernandez, the little midfield mastermind is simply a sensational player and the way he makes a difference in the team is simply phenomenal. He is an extraordinary talent and even though he is crossing the age of 30 soon, he is still the one who covers
most of the ground on the field and travels the most while playing for his team.
He made differences during the FIFA World Cup 2010 and is the one who makes the difference while playing for Barcelona. Many even said that there is no Messi without Xavi; however, this is not totally true and such remarks came on during the FIFA World Cup
2010 when Lionel Messi was failing in the line up of his national side Argentina.
Lionel Messi is this era’s best player at the moment and is also a product of Barcelona’s youth academy. He is totally a sensational player and does wonders whenever the ball is at his feet. He is the one who helped the Argentinean side reach the quarter
final stage of the FIFA World Cup 2010, but it is true that he couldn’t find the net even once during his run with his national team.
