Things you could have done without?

What is one thing you felt you HAD to get for your baby before they were born but then found out you didn't really need it or use it? Like a wipe warmer or a bottle warmer. Just trying to get an idea for a must need and a do without for our registry. Thanks!

  1. I had a sling (Lamaze) that was worthless, also didn't need pacifiers...my girl is breastfed and doesn't really like any plastic nipples, any outfit that goes over the head was so much harder to get on then the button/zip up type, didn't need a ton of blankets....we DID actually make good use of our wipe warmer because our house was pretty cold in the winter and our bottle warmer would of been great if she ever enjoyed taking a bottle.  you don't need a lot of outdoor outfits or clothes like jackets, etc....if you get a car seat cover they are plenty warm.  didn't need baby soap because she had sensitive skin and doc said to use dove bar soap, no lotions either...doc suggested Cetaphil lotion.

  2. I didn't get these things or think I needed them, but from others I've heard that a diaper pail (gets really gross) or wipe warmers aren't really necessary.  And most babies don't need a pacifier unless they'll be breastfed.  You don't need alot of outfits right away either.  Lots of onesies and sleepers.

  3. I didnt get a bottle warmer, i just used a jug and filled with hot water, saved money there. A cot mobile i didnt use but i did use a singing night light, baby bath (i found using a foam insert in the *** bath was better)

Theres prob loads of stuff i got but didnt use but them are the main things i remember

  4. didnt use the diaper geni and gave it away after a while

didnt use the bassinette or crib but will be using it as a toddler bed

didnt use burp cloths- my son rarely had gas and didnt spit up much

    didnt use pacifiers

    didnt use shoes for newborn

didnt use a lot of hats because he was born in april

ps you-re not supose to use the microwave to heat bottle ! because it can deplete the nutrients andd 2 because it can cause hots psots in the milk.

  5. didn't need the wipe warmer either...also didn't need a bassinet(used a pack n play instead) or a snuggli like i thought...im sure theres more but i cant think of any right now.

  6. My son refused to sleep in the bassinet, He cried whenever I put him in it. I wish I never bought it.

But, I couldn't live without my diaper pail. It is conveniently located next to the changing table. I keep a wisp freshener on top to make the room smell nice. (lavender and vanilla)

  7. Diaper Pail - yuck!!

Changing table-I use the bed and floor...changing tables scared me.  Baby can't roll off the floor if you get distracted.  I know you shouldnt get distracted while changing a baby...but it only takes a second, a loud noise, other children, being 1/2 a sleep at 3 am...

Totally disagree with others on the monitor and the slingie.  I couldnt live with out those.

  8. Diaper genie, changing table, bottle warmer.

  9. Wipe warmer, bottle warmer, scratch mittens, bottle sterilizer.

What I found that I needed the most, was what people gave me for when the baby was a little older.  I remember opening the presents at my shower thinking...I won't need that for a while.  Well, it comes fast, and it was great to have on hand.  things like toothbrushes and paste, thermometers, etc.

  10. Boppy (regular pillows worked just fine)

Changing table (used the bed most of the time)

    Diaper pail

  11. i didn't need the wipe warmer at all..its kinda useless

  12. Allot of things!

    Diaper Pail(they stink...BAD!)

Bassinet (baby could sleep with you)

Lots of toys(still little. Doesn't need lots)

Lots of clothes(sleepers and day wear)

    Bottle warmer(got a microwave?)

Wipe warmer(warm with hand. Doesn't take long)

    Walker(can push anything else)

    Baby Moniter(IDK!)

    Scratch mittens

    Hats

    Pacifier(Some don't need it.)

    Next time you shop, go,

    "Will I really use this?"

    Save money. Think!
