  1. When I deployed, i brought the following.. to get through the travel time and first few days at our final destination

    Books/magazines

    pogey bait (snack foods)

    puzzle books

    IPOD

    Laptop

    shower stuff

when you get to where you are finally going.. recommend you get with your chaplain or anysoldier.com

I have a platoon of 70 soldiers and we were able to get through with donations of hygien items some snacks/magazines.

The chaplian received multiple care packages and letters.  It is great to see the support for the soldiers by so many people.  Always enjoyable to get letter mail.  I have met many wonderful people this way.

    Hope this helps

  2. baby wipes

    pogey bait (for the trip)

shower S**t (shower shoes, soap etc)

a laptop if you have one

    mp3

    magazines, except "FMs" (p**n mags)

    tv's and radios

  3. A helmet and a pair of thongs.

  4. Socks and underwear - no kidding. Whatever you think you can get by on, double it and you'll be happy you did later. Nothing boosts your morale quicker that clean skivvies PLUS good personal hygiene helps prevent "the crud", that is, athlete's foot and jock itch.
