Think I should retake the SAT Reasoning? (June 2008 Exam)?

Hey everyone!

I recently received my scores for the June SAT Reasoning Exam, and I was happy to discover that I received a 1990. I will be a senior next year, and my top school choices are Oberlin College (OH), Brandeis University (MA), and Villanova (PA).

I am trying to decide whether or not to retake the SAT. I've heard a lot about "your score will improve" and the specifics of retaking the exam, I'm just wondering if it would really be worth it. My G.P.A is approximately 3.95 weighted, and somewhere around 3.75 unweighted. I have a lot of extra curriculars including instrumental ensemble, jazz band, B.S.A, and NHS.

Thank you!

  1. I think any time you have the opportunity to improve your score, you should retake the test.

While reading about you, I would say that you stand a pretty good chance of getting into all 3 of those schools - but it's never a guarantee. In fact, the better your score, the better your chances of getting accepted

Take it again...it's not gonna hurt you even if you do score lower...you have nothing to lose but alot to gain.

  2. i wouldnt take my SATs again if i were you.

I know a lot of my friends who got accepted to oberlin with much lower test scores and certainly a lower GPA than that of yours.

  3. you can retake it if you feel you can score higher, but a 1990 is a great score.
