Think i'm being scammed?

met someone on the net chatted for about a week and this person proceeds to tell me that they r out of town and lost their wallet but has a money order but the hotel they r @ won't except it they only accept cash .this person then wants all y personal info address full name phone# etc. So this person will send me money order and for me to send cash and then i can receive money order and get my cash back.

This is definitely a scam.  Even if your bank accepts the money order for deposit, a week or so from now they are going to notify you that it was fake and you will be out that money.  Don't do it.

DON'T GIVE THEM A THING! it is a scam. what kind of hotel doesn't accept anything but cash??? what if your bill is like $1,500? they expect you to have that in cash? DUH!!!

You're being scammed.

Ask your new "friend" what the name of the hotel so you can make contact yourself.  A hotel would accept a money order.

1. Few hotels will only accept cash

2. Few if any ppl have no friends or relatives except someone they met on a net chat.

3. Travelers aid and the local police and possibly Salvation Army are resources that can assist.   My guess is when you mention contacting the local police to help them they will suddenly figure out another solution.   Local bank or PO could cash money order.

4. If they are under 21 direct them to 1 800 Runaway not bec theyn are a run away but bec they can arrange free rides back home on greyhound for young ppl stranded out of town. Local police will transport to bus station so they don't need taxi fare either and will help with food for the bus ride.  

Say No and block them from future contact after telling them the above and offering to call police for them if they do not have a phone available.
