Question:

Think this was an AT&T fraud/ scam call? ?

My cell phone carrier is AT&T. Earlier today I received a call from a woman claiming to be an associate of AT&T's customer service and they she was calling to work out issues on my bill. I first looked the number up since it seemed a bit fishy, and pulled up nothing. I called the number back and was directed to a VM box that was full. I called AT&T to report it but they didn't seem too concerned, but did say that the phone number is a cell and not an AT&T one at that and that obviously it wasn't an authorized call. Well, after some searching I still can't find any info. If anyone knows about this, received the same call or whatever please respond. The number that called me was (951) 818-5983. Thanks!

  1. I am a manager at AT&T... I am sorry if this call inconvenienced you. We have a system called ROCCS. I can honestly say, it leaves a lot to be desired and most of my employees hate it, but we are really pushed by corporate to do these calls.

    Now, in my store, I do have my employees call on their company cellphones, the reason for this is that in the past when they have used the store phone, the customer got charged minutes for these calls, and then a credit had to be issued. Many managers choose to have their employees use their company cell phones for this reason.

    The way the system works.. is this: If the person who originally sold you your phone is still employed with us, they should be following up with you about your needs and billing issues, and they are tracked for doing so.

    If that employee quits or is fired, then the system shows that nobody is "your contact person" so you go into the ROCCS system. ROCCS is a computer program that picks up when you go over your minutes or texts or could benefit from a feature.

    If you don't want to be contacted anymore with ROCCS calls, just call your nearest AT&T store and ask that you be marked as do not call on your account.

    These calls are really designed to help our customers, but I will be the first to admit it is not a perfect system. Again, I apologize.
