  1. nope...get a bigger bike

    I NEVER get tailgated.

I watch my mirrors, if someone gets too close, I whack open the throttle, and they are nothing but a distant memory...

  2. No.

It isn't like they don't already know they are tailgating.

    Good Luck...

  3. No; it would just take drivers' attention away from your tail light, and you'd get hit when they didn't realize that you had stopped.

  4. Nothing works- though most of us have thought about launching rocks at these jerks. Or ball bearings. Or soda cans. Though I have found when they see me ride with both hands off my bars they tend to pull back :-)

Best bet- pull over and let the jerk pass. It's better to be right and alive than right and dead.

  5. I bend down and look at something on my bike like something is wrong, that usually keeps em' off

  6. I would get a much brighter tailight or more lights.  I have heard of a few people that rig their lights to a thumb-button that they can press at any time to engage the taillights and give a false-brake check or to flash a driver to warn them to back off.

I have been told to shake your bike (a little, not violently) as if you are going to fall off) and that often scares drivers into backing off or changing lanes.

Unfortunately, a big stop sign on the back of your helmet will draw too much "wondering" attention and "oh that's funny, he\she has a stop sign on their helmet" and not enough "I need to back off, stop, or change lanes" attitude.

Bigger or more powerful bikes do not help either.  If you get tailgated, most bikes will have enough power anyway to get away if you want to (downshift and kick it if you must) so that is not the issue.  A cop is more likely to see you speeding away from traffic than some moron cage-driver tailgating you.  Plus, the only real time you can "escape" is if nothing is to your side or in front of you.

Ride like you are invisible and everyone is out to get you. . .

  7. Nope. I got a MSF sticker on the back of my helmet and they still crawl up there. As nerve racking as it is to pull off on the side of a road with a tiny break down lane do it.

  8. You better watch it, in my neck of the woods people love to shoot stop signs full of holes.  Hate for them to use your head for target practice.

  9. I think that's a bit excessive, but if we're talking about stickers, I do recommend the ones that say "In case of accident DO NOT remove my helmet." Could be lifesaving. x

  10. On budk.com you can buy these bright orange denim vests that say "Can You See Me Now A**Hole!" on the back. I think that would get there attention better. Try both.
