Thinking about buying a Saturn?

I want to buy a 2001 or 2002 saturn SC1, or SC2, and am wondering if this is a good idea? If you own this car, do you like it? What things should I know about, like is it hard to get at changing the oil filter, etc.?

If you own just let me know if you would recommend it, and why or why not.

Thanks.

  1. I would stay away if I were you.

Saturn, in the past, has been somewhat unreliable, but mostly I would advise you to stay away because they are unsafe. Even now, they haven't gotten good safety ratings, so why would they be better back then?

I think that service costs could be cheaper than some other brands, so it's still in the running. I think that for the same amount of money, there are other Japanese cars that are more reliable and safer choices.

    Good luck!

  2. im thinking about the same thing so i want to see the answers you get

  3. radiator has a tendency to crack by the mounting bolts but othewise a great lil car with good mileage

  4. I would not recommend it at all. If its got more than 85,000 mile your just gonna end up putting alot of money into it, since they are cheaply made carse to begin with there not good cars. i would recommend a toyota or honda.im a mechanic and see expensive problems with saturns of this age. Iv seen several that needed new engines at 80,000 miles and transmission going out at 65,000 miles. Iv never had a toyota or honda having those problems at that mileage. Ive seen those repairs done to them at 250,000 miles though but thats great if you think about it.
