Question:

Thinking about buying a new tennis racquet.

I've been playing tennis for about 4 years and I've been using my friends racquet for months and really need to get my own. I've considered buying my friend's but I really can't base the best of my playing style off of this racquet although I do very well with it. I play a lot from the baseline and don't worry too much about the net.

I'm looking for a *lightweight* racquet that i can swing very fast with because I use put alot of topspin into my forehands.

I don't really care about the headsize... nothing smaller than 95.

* I don't really know what to call lightweight because I've only gone through about 4 racquets and the one I'm playing with is a Head liquidmetal 8.5. To me that is very light and i think its 8.7 oz strung.

I'm leaning in to buying a Babolat brand racquet just because I think their models look great and my price range is below $200

  1. I just got a Babolat, and while I like it a lot, it doesn't sound like what you say you want.  Mine is on the head-heavy side and I get a lot of power with it.

Try the racquet finder in the link below.  I've found it to be pretty helpful.

  2. First off, what type of game do you play?!  I'm guessing that since you use a lot of topspin you're an aggressive baseliner who rarely travels to net.  Well, I say that you need to have a slightly head heavy racquet to put more power into your shots without trying to swing hard or fast.  I have a babolat pure drive roddick plus and I like it.  Needless to say its great on serves and decent at the baseline.

However, I would steer clear of really light racquets they are no good.  I think something over 10.5 ounces preferably in the 11 ounce range.  I have  been looking into the prince speedport black racquet.  It is 100 sq. in. and about 11.3 ounces.  It is headlight which allows you to really whip through it but is steady at impact.

I would go with the prince racquets over a babolat racquet because they FEEL better.  When you swing the babolat feels slow but the prince racquet cuts through the air like a hot knife through butter.  Go to tenniswarehouse.com and browse their racquets they have good reviews and the best prices.

  3. I think a prince racquet would suit your game pretty well. Price racquets are known for generating plenty of topspin. Go with the prince O3 series or the Speedport series.
