  1. Good for you - get the blades.  Your thinking is correct, you will be forced to make a precise fundamentally sound swing that repeats with the forged clubs.  The oversized cast clubs allow people to gradually swing worse and worse with basically the same result until one day they can't get it airborne and they wonder what went wrong.  Other than laziness there is no reason the average golfer cannot develop a sound swing that repeats and that is what is necessary to hit the blades on the sweet spot.  You will be a better golfer for it and will appreciate the game more.

  2. hi sam i would practice with before buying them especially if you have been using cavity,s alot if you play below 10 like me then you should be able to adapt to them quick but dont rush in and buy b4 you try.

there are alot on the market now that are in between cavity and blades i think the right shaft is just as important too

    goodluck

  3. Good theory.  How practical is up for debate.  I'm not a low handicap player, but I have hit blade irons before.  I did pretty well with them, especially on par 3's.  I switched to a combination set(Nike Pro Combo) that provided more forgiveness.  The short irons are a blade style and my confidence with those is very high.  It's all about how well you strike the ball.  If you can strike the ball well with a better player's iron, then it has to enhance your game when you use the clubs you normally use.  A bladed iron will definitely tell you how well or how poorly you made contact with the ball.  I would love to have a set of Nike blades.  I hit a 6 iron and it wasn't the best experience, but it is a beautiful set of irons.  Maybe one day.

  4. I would leave the true bladed clubs for those who make a living off each and every shot.  I've been playing golf for about 15 years.  I'm a scratch golfer.  I've had bladed clubs in my bag.  Love the way they feel but unless you practice everyday and have a solid repeatable swing your going to hurt your game more than you will help.

If your wanting the best of both worlds I would locate a manufacturer (Taylor Made, Mizuno ect...) that offers a combo set.  You will have the scoring clubs that are blade (usually 7 or 8 iron - PW) and the middle to long irons will have a "FORGED" look but will also have some slight perimiter weighting that will help get the ball in the air.  Most manufacturers have stopped making true blades because the market is small.  Anyway, good luck with your search.  I play Taylor Made TP combos and love them.  Before that, I played Wilson Staff progressives for about 12 years.  During that time, I tried Hogan blades, Mizuno blades and Titelist Blades.  Kept going back to the combo.  Love the feel, workability of the blade without the butter knife....

  5. Yeah shaft choice is definitely important as well.  Try some of the rifle series, especially the project X series.  As far as the blades go, I know alot of people that can play below par consistently and hit cavities as well.  The blades help with workability, feel, and club fitting, but blades are not for everyone.  Go hit them first before you buy some.  Also, try maybe the mizuno MP30, or MP60 as well.  If you are still convinced on blades, my favorite is the Titleist 695mb's.  They are sweet to hit, and they feel spectacular.

  6. Hey I'm off 11 and had the mp32's for Christmas. Before i was play in with graphite taylormade HT's and so this was a huge change. I brought them off the internet as well so was taking a risk. However, i have had very few problems adapting to a bladed club. The shaft is the main difference, i play with the s300 shaft which is completely different to graphite. At the end of the day they are still golf clubs, and like u say, if u are of a decent ability, u shouldn't have any problems changing.

    Good luck with the game

  7. i think you have the right idea i used blades as my first clubs and i went from a 28 handicap to 8 handicap(official at my club ) in 4 months i obviously played and practiced everyday but still it worked i am  2.1 handicap now and still use blades i love them

  8. Hi,

I got set of titleist 695mb's (blades) about a year ago and have never looked back!! they are so good and i can create a lot of spin with them, however they do take some getting used to so if u get a set..... practice loads before you go out on the course!!
