  1. Visit your local golf pro and get some lessons on how to play. Develop a swing which suits you and then practice regularly. There is no need to buy a brand new set of clubs initially and perhaps you could do with 5,7,9, wedge and putter together with a rescue club - say a 3 iron. Good luck on the driving range until you have the confidence to play on the course.

  2. dont do it. you will suck at first then get good then suck some more

  3. Buy a cheap set of second hand clubs, there are lots for sale on e-bay or in your local newspaper. Then go for a lesson with a local golf professional, then go and play a few rounds on your local municipal / public / council run golf course. It helps if you can meet someone else starting golf and go together for moral support. As time passes you will improve and your confidence and ability will soon grow. Good luck, it;s a great game. Enjoy!

  4. try a round at your local council run golf course, you can hire out a set of clubs cheaply or borrow some from a mate and give it a whirl.Preferably go with someone who knows how to play and enjoy.

Dont expect to be very good for a start,it may be worth your while spending some time on the driving range first to get your swing right.only a few quid for a big bucket of balls and you will ache like mad the next day.

  5. Go to a driving range and rent some clubs.  They usually have some mixed and matched sets sitting around.

Take a 9-iron, 5-iron and Driver and hit the range, and see how you do, and what you think.

  6. Go to a local driving range and hit some balls to see what it feels like.

  7. hit golf ball at a driving range every day and get a lesson

  8. go to a local pitch and putt (9/12 hole courses) and get used to using the irons.

go to a driving range and see how far you can hit the ball with a driver and the woods.

at the pitch and putt use the greens over and over from different areas of the greens, to get used to 'reading the green' so you know that in golf you dont always aim for the hold when it comes to putting.

get a decent set of clubs, you need a full set to get on a course, as well as proper attire, such as golf shoes.

it's expensive, but its a good day out, and even better if you've a 19th hole.

    enjoy!
