i love mosman/neutral bay/cremorne/kirribilli, but they all seem very expensive rent wise, i also like balmain/chiswick, i'm not sure about apartment/flat availablitlity or rent prices in these areas though? is there any suburbs similar that arent so expensive to rent an apartment? they dont necessarily have to be in the lower north shore area, or close to the harbour, but safe is must.thanks!

  1. Depending on how much/long you want to commute, you will find the Sutherland Shire and Northern Beaches beautiful places to live (both are up to 70-80 minutes on public transport).  I have lived in Balmain for the past 6 years and I love it - I have harbour views, thriving pub-life, cafes and smart neighbours. Cost and availability is a major issue though (as you have correctly noticed), but the feel of the place offsets that for me.

  2. Arncliffe, Bardwell Park, Ashfield, Croydon park, Bexley, Burwood, Drummoyne, Forest Lodge, Campsie, Ashbury, Summer Hill and Hurstville are all pretty good suburbs...
