  2. China has a huge market for English teachers right now, and in many cases the only qualification you need is to be a native English speaker (being blonde-haired and blue-eyed can also help, because the schools love the novelty factor).  There are many, many programs that can help you arrange everything from travel to visas to housing, but be careful in researching them.  There are some really bad stories drifting around about some programs providing poor living standards, withholding pay, etc.

A good place to get recommendations is on online China ex-pat forums.  Quite a few China ex-pats are English teachers, and the rest at least know a few teachers!  Here are a few to start with:

    http://www.thebeijinger.com/forum/

http://www.asiaxpat.com/ (has sites for Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou)

and Chinese-forums.com has an entire board dedicated just to Teaching English in China:

You can also find some job listings online:

  3. Want to know more about China before moving,  see http://www.bayareavisit.com/Special.html you need some certification and work visa, then you can renew annually, it is a good experience there.

  4. Hey whatever you do don't move to a S****y city! It will ruin your experience for sure.

Move to Beijing or Shanghai for the best experience and to make the most money. You can make between 10000 - 15000 RMB a month, including your flight paid and accomodation.

Go to www.daveseslcafe.com to find jobs.

Most people get their TESOL certificate first. You can get this at any local college, it's easy as pie, and only a month long. Usually around $900-$1200 US. Youll have a better chance at finding a job with this certificate.

    Goodluck.
