  1. No, we don't tip in Australia  :o)

To the person above me, I don't think he has a large one.

    (Restaurant of course, what else).

  2. I would recommend you read Anthony Bourdain's book 'Kitchen Confidential'.  He's a famous chef who worked in dozens of restaurants all his life.  He says you'd have to be crazy to want to go into the restaurant business and gives several 'case histories'.  He talks about why restaurants fail.  Also he shows how much work it is to keep a restaurant going.  It's really a good book, 'a good read' as they say.

My dad was in the restaurant business for a while, just a little diner back in the 1960s.  Dad worked about 20 hrs per day.  When I wasn't in school, I worked too, as did the rest of the family.

  3. you need to be very ambitious. you will work 7 days a week either directly or indirectly on your business. you should also have experience working in a restaurant, and experience in an a leadership position. if not go get some of this experience. it will strenthen your chance for success. good luck.

  4. Cool beans thats what I'm doing too!Right nowI'm a waitress and I'm in school for an Entrepreneur Certificate, which is helpful because I'm learning accounting, managing, and business law all in one after that I'm getting a degree or certificate in Culinary Arts and Small Business Management,so basically the more you know about the business before you start the better!

  5. You know what they say. The best way to make a small fortune opening a restaurant is to start with a large one. Good Luck!

  6. Think as if you are a customer going to a good restaurant, what all would you expect? That is what you need to arrange for your customers.
