Question:

Thinking about upgrading to Home Theater?

I bought the Logitech Z-2300 2.1speakers which almost sound like surround sound but doesn't cut it when the volume is down. I estimated that my bedroom size is almost 15lengthx13width and I have around $500 to spend and I have considered getting the onkyo HT-S790 or HT-s800 for my room. Both of them do 7.1 which is a great step up from 2.1 , but have 8 speakers which I think I can manage. However, I'm wondering if the size of my room is good for these speakers?

I will make another question on the decision between the Onkyo S790 and S800 depending on the answers to this question . Any other Home theather suggestions is welcome !

  1. Save your money and get a 5.1 system, the room is so small and there are so few sources for 7.1 sound that it would be a big waste to get anything more than a 5.1. There are plenty of good 5.1 systems out there for around $300.00 that will blow your socks off in a 15x13 room. I have a $240.00 1000w Sony in a 18x25 ft living room that will rattle the walls.

  2. I say just buy 5.1. You can get a great 5.1 system for that size room for under $300 easy. I have a Sony system that I got for $180 that is awesome, and would be a huge step up from 2.1
