so I'm thinking about starting muay thai..its just a thought so far. I've read about how she started and saw the interviews. I was wondering how do I even start learning..take classes or personal coach/trainer (sorry, not familiar with the lingo). I've actually dedicated most of my life & all of my heart to swimming, started on a team since I was 10 and swam all the way up to1 yr in college..so you can see I'm dedicated to what interests me. Thought I'd have a change in pace and try something new..I've always wanted to do karate and parents wouldn't let me but I've done some Kenpo when I was doing P90x. Anyway, sooo I'don't know where to start..I've been watching and reading up on Gina Carano and shes SOO inspiring. I understand that nothing comes easy..it's going to take a lot of practice, time and patience.

  1. To start off, you can first research muay thai schools and see if it is something you see yourself as using.  Then, pick a muay thai school and visit it and meet the instructor and learn as much as you can about muay thai.  you are correct in understanding that nothing comes easy and that it takes practice, time, and patience.  It is also good to hear that you are inspired to start learning muay thai by someone like Gina Carano, who is a superb athlete and one of the best in her class.  Having someone like Gina Carano as your inspiration to start learning muay thai is great because some people don't have role models that they aspire to be like and they turn out alright.  She is my favorite female MMA fighter also.

  2. Do your research, find a good instructor, and train safe.  You already have an athletic background so it shouldn't be that difficult.
