Question:

Thinking of a name for an odd last name.?

Ok, so I have some names I love, but maybe new ideas would help us. We don't know if it's a boy or a girl quite yet...

Annica Elizabeth

or Ashlyn Elizabeth

Or

Dalton Joseph - I hate it, my husband loves it :(

Any ideas other than these would be appreciated, I just want them to be somewhat normal and match the last name.

So here's the odd last name part..it has to go with the last name Ice (and I swear if anyone writes Vanilla I'll freak out).

  1. If you want i gave some names like Julius Caesar or Simone Ann

  2. i think your best bet id too write a list of names for th possible boy/girl and when he/she comes say them to the baby and look for a response? a smile or a giggle maybe?

if not, Ashlyn Elizabeth is lovely! xx

  3. Annica Elizabeth is gorgeous - too gorgeous, I love it!

Not a huge fan of Dalton, it's okay.  What about Logan Joseph?  Carter Joseph?  Hamish (Hay-mish) Dalton?

  4. Definately use 2 syllable names...

    Katie Ice

    Trevor Ice

    Cody Ice

Howabout something whimsicle:  Summer Ice, etc.

I would stay away from names with "s" sound. Too much "s".  Chris Ice.

Also, no names ending in "L".  It sounds like "lice"...Rachel Ice.

  5. ...Lemon

    haha

    jk

I happen to like the ashlyn elizabeth myself

  6. Can't think up names off the top of my head but i noticed you wish to go along the lines that the initials should mean something, so i have to let you in on the first thing that came to mind, F.B.I  all you have to ask others by posing this question again is to find nice names for a boy or girl beginning with F and B, i truly hope this narrows it down a bit for you and all interested parties.

  7. Ice is an AWESOME last name!

Just give the kid ANY name that you want, as long as it doesn't sound too cutesy when paired with ice (ex. Crystal Ice). Try Jake (for a boy) or Laila (for a girl); I've always loved those names.

  8. I like Ashlyn Elizabeth.

    I don't like Dalton Joseph.

    What about:

    Girls:

    Danielle Nicole Ice

    Carrie Celeste Ice

    Courtney Renee' Ice

    Caitlyn Sophia Ice

    Sophia Bailey Ice

    Matilda Danielle Ice

    Megan Harlow Ice

    Boys:

    Brayden Vincent Ice

    Katin Marcus Ice

    Mason Brendon Ice

    Carter Joseph Ice

    Tanner Daniel Ice

    Liam Robert Ice

  9. We have an unusual surname too, and are trying to match up names to it!  We think that a more traditional name is a good idea to balance out the strangeness of the surname.

Although I really like the name Annica for a girl, Annica Ice sounds a lot like the TV presenter Anneka Rice's name - if you're not British you won't have a clue who I mean, and she was more famous in the late 80's to early 90's, but most British people over 25 have heard of her, and it's so similar that there might be confusion and certainly a lot of comments!

Plus, I think if your surname starts with a vowel, it's an idea to avoid first names that end in a vowel as it doesn't flow as well. Although the name Annica Elizabeth Ice is beautiful, Annica Ice has a little stutter in the middle, and might end up sounding like "Annica Rice" depending on the way it's pronounced.

Ashlyn Elizabeth Ice is a lovely name, and I like Dalton Joseph Ice too.

The person who said that a two syllable name would be best is spot on, I've said lots of names in my head with your surname, and I think two syllable names work really well.

Good luck with your pregnancy, and have fun choosing a name! :-)

  10. Just a few names i love-

    Poppy Jayde

    Indya Rose (Indy for short)

    Willow Marie

    Autumn Charlotte

    Luke James

    Jack Oliver

    Harper James

    Willem Oliver

    August William

    River Jones

  11. -Vanilla

    -Crushed

    (sorry just kidding)

Names are pretty difficult to come up with, Dalton might be better off as Joseph Dalton, this way Joseph could be shorted to Joe or Joey.  You need to recognize that kids NEED names that should be good for the entire life whether they're 1 or 100  This is something they have to live with their entire life.

  12. I'd avoid Annica (Google "Annika Rice" which sounds exactly the same and you'll see why, serious blonde bimbo associations).

I'd have to say, I like Elizabeth - are you sure you want that as a middle and not a first name? It sounds good with the surname, and has lots of nice shorter versions.

  13. What a great surname, although admittedly, an extremely difficult one to match a name to!

I don't think Annica or Ashlyn work well with your surname, and Dalton Ice sounds like a brand of alcohol to me...  I think longer names that don't flow into the 'I' sound would work best with your surname.

Here are a few ideas you might like to consider...

    Amélie Ice

    Jesenia Ice

    Abigail Ice

    Evangeline Ice

    Georgiana Ice

    Caitlin Ice

    Penelope Ice

    Ruby Ice

    Tabitha Ice

    Vittoria Ice

    Zahra Ice
