Thinking of buying Corvette- should I sell my current vehicle?

I'm thinking of buying a C6 Corvette but I currently own a paid for 2001 Nissan Frontier. Should I sell the truck for the 5-8k I would get for it or do I keep it as my primary vehicle thus reducing the maintenance and preserving the value and condition of the Corvette because it would be a secondary vehicle? Anyone have a similar experience with this?

  1. i have 5 licensed and insured vehicles and love having a choice

    of what to drive.

my  insurance is  less then double of what it was when i  only had 1 insured

  2. Where do you live? If you're in cold weather climate with snow and ice I don't think you'd want to drive the Vette. If you're in a southern state you might be OK.

In either case I think I would keep the paid off truck to drive on crappy days and save the Vette for nice days.

  3. I guess you should also check insurance quotes for Corvette before buying one, for example here: http://carinsurance.deep-ice.com

Such an expensive sporty car costs a lot to insure.

  4. Keep the truck.  If the 5-8k is needed to buy the vette then you shouldn't.  But that doesn't sound like the case.

You'll get a multi-car discount for insurance, and if you need to haul anything, you sure can't do it in the vette.  Definately keep it.

  5. Well I would keep the Frontier, first of all its paid for and you might need alittle room later.

  6. Not unless you are planning on buying a winter beater for driving in the bad weather.  Corvette's are expensive to purchase and expensive to insure...........I would keep the vehicle you have too........as a back up for bad weather or trade it in on an older model!

  7. i had 2002 vette and it was super cool, super fun, and super low quality craftsmanship.... owned all types of cars over years and vette was not worst but it was worst built - two words would describe it "cheap" & "racecar",,,, maybe that will help you decide what is more practical.. myself, i would never buy a newer model vette again unless they changed manufacturing location and had proven track record of quality afterwards...
