  1. Yorkies get my vote!!

  2. Check out this website:

    http://www.selectsmart.com/DOG/

Your sister can answer some questions and they recommend a breed that fits her lifestyle.

  3. hi,

to know what type of dog will suit your sister, you can use this dog finder match up http://tinyurl.com/6gkcok

the goal here is to help you figure out what type of dog best suits your sister and her personality. The results of the match up will suggest certain breeds.

    hope this helps

  4. here's your problem.. short haired dogs shed more than long haired dogs.  Technically all dogs with hair shed.. but if you want one that sheds less, its ussually breeds with long hair.

    Yorkies have long hair.

Jack russels are energetic, and ussually weight more than 7-8 pounds

Dachshunds are stubborn and ussually weigh more than 7-8 pounds.

  5. I would say the best thing for you to do is ask your sister.  Are you sure she wants one in the first place:  Also what does she prefer when it comes to size.  I would suggest a brown or black lab.  They are easy to housebreak, smart, protective, affectionate, and somewhat docile after the puppy years

  6. What does your sister want?  Ask her.

A Yorkie has very very long hair and needs a lot of grooming.  I love them as they are great little characters.

A Dachshund needs a lot of running room and is very active when very young.  Sheds some.

A Yorkie/Russel is a mix I wouldn't want.  The Jack Russel is a highly active dog and needs room to run & play.  But the mix???  A long coated breed with a short coated breed...hmmmmm.. A mutt in any  book.

Of course everybody knows, I love Chihuahuas..little, lovable, easy to spoil and yes, it does shed.  Will stay small and is a wash and wear type of dog that only needs minimal brushing to stay neat.  Will stay on her lap anytime it's offered!

  7. I love my shih-tzu, my second favorite dog is Maltese, and then Chow Chows.(yorkies are expensive generally)

  8. Before getting your sister a dog, make sure that she wants one and that she is willing to take on all the responsibility that having a dog brings.

Then take this quiz to see which breed matches her lifestyle http://dogbreedinfo.com/search.htm

Personally, I like the Havanese. They stay small (7 to 12 lbs), don't shed, are very playful, love everyone and other animals, are don't bark a lot (but do make good watchdogs)! My Havanese boy (his name is Rookie) is the sweetest thing and everyone adores him! He loves to get everyone's attention, and he absolutely LOVES the groomer (even though he doesn't like baths or being brushed) and the vet (even after getting shots and having his temperature taken)!! He wags his tail a mile a minute when we are close to either place and will try to walk in the door! Then he licks them to death and wants to play with them. He thinks he is getting more attention! Both have said that he is the perfect patient and have never seen a dog so happy to see them afterwords.
