  1. There are many good sites Check out Camping and Caravaning in Great Britain before you buy though.

I have a Static Caravan in the lake district and believe me you are doing the right thing in buying a tourer although fuel costs are high at the moment for towing  you may want to consider a base for your van. Many many caravaners store their van over winter and that can be expensive too. One site North Lakes Camping and Caravaning allow you to store your caravan all the year round saving you on towing its a good base for exploring the lake district although nothing much on site other than beautiful country side and definitely nothing for kids

  2. www.caravancampingsites.co.uk

I love carry on camping in a caravan haven't been in so long so if you want a British girl to take....

  3. I'm just going to sell mine regrettably. However, things to think about which are most important:

The tow weight of your car in relation to the weight of your towing caravan go to www.parkers.co.uk/advice/TowingWeightCal... - Cached.

Make sure that you van has been serviced and look for damp patches particularly in the back of the toilet area often concealed by shower curtains.

In fact for all the advice and information you need for buying go to the caravan club website for free advice. www. caravanclub.co.uk.

I wish you all the best and enjoy the experience of making new friends.

One other thing is that the Elddis caravan whilst they are of good quality generally they are quite a loty heavier than other vans. Also buy a van that you are comfortable with not one that you are going to be afraid of getting messed up. And I would buy one a four birth with a table at the end which can be converted into a bed.

And make sure that the van does not smell. Some vans are cleverly diguised with flowery air fresheners. Go back and look when the weather is warm that soon brings out any hidden smells.

I'll go now before I put you off completely from buying.

  4. if you buy a second hand caravan ,check for damp this is one of the biggest problems with caravans, check in cupboards, awning rails, under beds  ,take a flashlight so you an see into the dark recesses, if you can get a cheap damp meter use it. have a good smell around ,if there are loads of air freshners walk away it might be trying to hide a damp smell. check that the brakes don't bind and the tyres ,check behind the sink that there are no leaks and check the fridge if fitted that it is rust and damp free.remove the outside fridge vents if you can and check inside with a torch.

buy a caravan mag and read the ads page at the back or check out the caravan clubs small ads, most of the people who sell caravans through these have looked after then very well.
