Looking to connect sky box to entry level projector, wanted to know if quality would be acceptable and also can you run long leads from projector to skybox, thanks.

  1. The skybox will work just fine thru the Acer X1160 considering that you to do not project an image larger than 75" diagonally.  Nevertheless, find out what is the DLP color wheel speed (i.e., 2x, 4x, etc.) beforehand in order to avoid those nasty rainbow images.  Also find out whether or not the Acer has its own built-in deinterlacer to handle video staircasing (i.e., PixelWork, Faroujda, etc) and if not, you may want to pass on the Acer.

    Good luck!

  2. An analog or 480p signal won't look good when blown up. That projector can only produce 480p so it's not going to look good at all. It'll be big but that's the best you'll be able to say. You may be able to find a 720p projector that is used and not specifically made as a consumer unit that would look fine for around the same price. I'm in the US and I am assuming a skybox can output at least 720p. If not, don't bother.
