Question:

Thinking of donating time to a charity, need to know some ideas as to which ones?

I like animals, but I've volunteered at the humane society before and their management was awful to animals (like, refusing to adopt an animal ::for example, a beagle:: because of personal preference).

I like helping people as well. Thinking of something dealing with my religion (I'm christian)

Will you give me some ideas? Thanks.

  1. There are several ways to donate time to Charity. Domestic Violence Shelters, Homeless Shelters, Voluntary Action Centers, Food Pantry's, Church's, Food Banks, Hospital's, Pet Hospital's, Vet.'s, Nursing Homes, Big Brother's and Big Sister's, Mentoring Programs, School's, Animal Shelter's, Animal Rescues, And many, many, many more. I am a Christian Woman and find that going to my Bishop (Pastor), helps. He has helped many people find this very same thing. Also by calling one of the above or one you personally know of and if they don't have anything to even if they don't offer it, ask if they can direct you in the right direction.

I have found in my personal experiences that there are many people out there who would love to have someone spend a little extra time helping them. I wish you the best of luck.

  2. Earth Day is coming up... look for local "green" initiatives, festivals, etc., that you can connect to.  Most of the ones I have run across are happy to offer you free tickets to the event if you volunteer time.

This is not as far from your religion as some would have you think... we are supposed to be the stewards of Creation.:-)

  3. Ask your Pastor for Teen Youth organizations with your church.

    Here are some suggested places...

    YMCA

    Boys and Girls Club

    Girls Scout

    Special Olympics

    Community Playhouse/Theatre

    Little League Baseball/Softball

    Soccer League

    Aquatics

    Nature Centers

    Children's Hospital

    Red Cross

    Salvation Army

    Your city

    Your school district

    Christian Childcare

Also, you may want to plan out your next volunteer experience. Ask what kind of weather climate you prefer. How long do you want to volunteer? How long do you want to be on your feet? The locations of these places. Research the organizations you choose on their creditability. The number of people you want to volunteer with.

I volunteer with the Community Playhouse. I use to do volunteer work with Little League and PTA.

  4. You will achieve a lot of personal satisfaction working with the most vulnerable members of society -- the young who cannot fend for themselves or the elderly who have no one to look after them.
