  1. I always got the impression that there is a love/hate attitude towards British ppl.  I agree with the other respondents that it is important to speak French in France.  I have heard that British ppl have found that the pay is higher in France, but you would have to ask the expats there.  Do go with an open mind-- though France is part of the western world with many similiarities with the UK, it still is a foreign culture.  And it will take some getting used to.

  2. Hi! I'm a French who lives in London. Many English have let me know what they honnestly think about the French (the kind of clichés you can find sometimes on this website). In France, we don't have some similar opinion about the British. I know that the "Entente cordiale" is recent and we were ennemies in the past. But I have the impression that some English think it's still the same whereas in France, not at all. So don't worry, you'll be welcome in France, provided you try to become integrated. This is actually the most important thing you have to consider: even if there're many common things between France and the UK, the way of life is different. Are you willing to forget the pub atmosphere, the british food, and all that is found in Britain but not in France? Are you willing to speak french? I don't want to scare you, but considering emigrating must be wisely decided. As I said, I'm french and I live in London. So i've emigrated. I don't regret it at all. Although i miss my country sometimes, i enjoy my new life in England. Because i'm open minded and i love meeting people different than me. If you're open minded too, and attracted by France, just do it! Otherwise, this experience isn't what you need.

  3. Brits are more than welcome especially in the sunny french riviera. there is a large community here and we are all mixed and having fun !!!

  4. I'm a Brit living in France.

If you speak some French, and work you will generally be welcome.

I would suggest you check out some of the French expat forums :

    http://www.the-languedoc-page.com/expat/...

They have questions from new arrivals and hopefuls about living in France

  5. Go with the right attitude and learn the language and you'll be very welcome.  I lived there for a year and had the best time.  Just remember, it's different and that's the point.  They don't care what's great about the UK, just go along with an open mind.

  6. i KNOW LOTS OF PEOPLE over there : if u try to fit in, u will be very welcome, if u go and complain that they don't have Branstons sauce in the supermarket in a very loud voice, it may be a different story....
