We are thinking about get a gass fire installed in our house. Do you think this will add value to our house?

We aren't thinking of selling anytime soon, given the current state of the U.K. housing market but in the long run what do you think?

  1. Unlikely to add value to the house, think of the expense of having gas lines run to the proposed fireplace.  Un-flued gas fires burn up the oxygen in the room, and make you sleepy.

  2. Good idea. Radiant heat is comforting and relaxing, and is absent from most central heating systems. You can get flueless gas fires these days which are very efficient compared to the ones that need a flue. Almost all of the gas is turned into heat. Argos do a couple, but it is worth a bit of research to find one you are happy with.
