  1. The safest way to get your ears pierced is by going to a tattoo or piercing studio and having them pierced with a needle by professionals.  Do not get them done at Claire's or any retail store that uses a piercing gun.  Piercing guns are great carriers for infection.  When you get it pierced at a shop, you'll probably be pierced with stainless steel.  Let the piercer know of any metal allergies or sensitivities you might have.  The person who pierces your ears should give you aftercare instructions.  Most likely he/she will advise you to do sea salt soaks 2-3 times a day (1/4 tsp sea salt dissolved in 8 oz of warm water) or wash with an anti-microbial soap (like Satin or Provon, however, anti-bacterial soap like Dial is acceptable).  Obvious stuff would be not to touch it with dirty hands, do not remove the jewelry until it's fully healed (1-3 months for ear lobes), and don't move it back and forth or you could get crusties trapped inside the hole which would be painful.

Any questions you have should be able to be answered by your piercer.  If they can't answer a question, seem unsure, or are rude, then go elsewhere.

  2. At the mall there are ear peicing booths, as well as stores like claires and icing will do it for free. plus fine jewlry stores will also do it and all of them will be able to teach you how to clean them and which metals to use. just be sure you are not alergic to any metals, and if u are be sure tehy are not in your earings. keeping them clean will withhold infection as well

  3. Just do not get it pierced at Claire's or Icing or Piercing Pagoda. They use guns which can not be properly sterile because they would melt in an autoclave. Therefore, other peoples' microbloodspray is left on the gun to get inside your piercing which can relate to Hepatitis C and other blood related diseases.

Go to a sterile piercer that uses hollow needles. They hurt less too.

  4. A lot of people say don't get them pierced with a gun. And that's excellent advice. But I've gotten my piercings done at the mall with a guy and for the past 5 years they have been perfectly fine.

There are different kind of material that you can use. If you have sensitive skin, I recomment you use sterling silver or 14kt gold. Nothing that isn't real, otherwise your skin will have a reaction to it.

As far as the paying goes, in some places the actual piercing may be free, and youll just have to pay for the earring.

Your earlobes are the easiest place to have an earring in. The healing process is really quick. It's about 6-8 weeks, but usually the healing time is less than that.

Cleaning your ears is simple. After you get your piercing you'll get a antiseptic cleaning solution. What you need to do before you clean them is make sure your hands are clean, get a cotton ball, put some of the antiseptic on it and just dab the cotton ball on your ear so that the antiseptic will go into your piercing. Also, rub the cotton ball on the back of the piercing too. You should do this twice or 3 times a day. Make sure you clean them, after you sweat exericise, and shower. Make sure to be genlte while you clean them. To make sure all of the antiseptic gets into the piercing you can gently twist it around.

So yeah, I hope this helps. good luck and don't worry about a thing :)

  5. if you want to clean them and they dont give you anything
