I would like to know what you think of starting off with 5 days in Paris and then moving onto Nice for 10 days? Any hotel recomendations or info on the areas I would appreciate. Thanks

  1. Nice and Cannes are best for nightlife. Note that the beach in Nice is pebbles, not sand. Other resorts you might want to consider are Ste Maxime and Antibes/Juan-les-Pins. St Tropez is worth a visit but is full of rich people :-) I would suggest hiring a car if you're visiting the Côte d'Azur - there are lots of interesting towns and scenery to see which you can only do by car, and it will also allow you a better choice of beaches - many beaches in the main resorts are either private (you have to pay to get in, and it's not cheap in high season), or are very crowded.

Towns worth a visit include Mougins and St Pol de Vence (these are incredibly touristy, but picturesque).

  2. montpelllier is a very fun student town! you can get the train there from Nice

    have fun

  3. At a minimum you have it backwards. Nice is a pleasant city but it cannot compare to Paris.

If you're going there to head for the beach then you might as well go to Coney Island or whatever beach is in your general vicinity. Everyone in France heads for the shore in the summer and you'll find it very crowded, expensive, and, in the final analysis, just another beach.

If you absolutely have to go to a beach in Europe then go to the Algave in southern Portugal or the Black sea beaches of either Romania or Bulgaria.

  4. Hi, I think you need more than 5 days in Paris, especially if you are an art lover. Anyway Nice and Cannes are a must see if you go down the riviera and you may go to Monaco as well :)

  5. You might like to think about Annécy.
