Thinking of going to italy for weekend where is best with cheap flights from glasgow?

You could fly into Rome, Pisa, or or Bergamo (Milan) on Ryan Air from Prestwick. There are also budget flights to Naples from Glasgow airport. With the Italian train system, you can expand the possible destinations from your arrival point. For example, you can catch the train at Pisa airport and go to Florence. As for hotels, it depends on where you end up and exactly what your budget is. I use the venere.com site for booking hotels here in Italy. There are over 500 hotels for Rome alone in their database. You can use a map to sort for a particular district in the city you're interested in and then sort by price, guest rating,... http://en.venere.com/hotels_rome/#o=defa... The site has a lot of reviews by previous guests to get an idea of what to expect from the area, the hotel, and the staff.

If you choose to go to Rome, any of the central districts in are convenient for sightseeing. The area around the Roma Termini train station is cheaper, but a little further from the sites. It is still walkable though, and there are good public transportation connections.

The Trevi, Colosseo Foro Romano, Pantheon, Navonna, and Piazza di Spagna districts, as shown on the venere map, are all within easy walking distance of all the major sights.

If you're looking for cheap and close to the attractions in Rome, a good option may be the Hotel Romano http://en.venere.com/hotels_rome/kolosse... It's very close to the Forum & Colosseum and within walking distance of two metro stops and the Termini train station.

the cheapest one I think it is ryanair from prestwick

to orio al serio that is 1 and a half hour from Milan

there is a cheap bus to central station approximately 6euros

per way

Italy is very very expensive

for hotels I usually use booking.com

funny enuff..ive just been thinkin of same idea (weekend in milan)..flight from prestwick..ryan air..3days...£130 for two adults !!....also for accom go to wshtravel for realy good deals..hope this helps...bit worried bout milan being expensive when there though.

Unfortunately no budget airlines fly from Glasgow to Italy but from Edinburgh (I know it's not ideal) but you can go Edinburgh to Dalaman in Italy and that is also in the summer

Italy is expensive, but I love going there.  I always get Wishcraft to sort out my holidays.  Contact them and tell them what you want plus your budget and they'll sort it - they always get me discounts etc and are very quick!
