The best areas to move to....? I'm thinking of applying to the university, so I'd kinda like to be near to that. I work as a nurse, so I;d like to be near to the hospital too. And obvioulsly near the beach and the pier. I have a partner and an 8 year old child so I want to be somewhere nice for kids and know the nice schools. So I'd appreciate any good ideas from anyone. I'll be moving from East London. Thanks guys.

  1. Sorry, dont live there, but went there last christmas, and loved it all. amazing place to live.

  2. If your talking about the main hospital which has A&E which is called the Sussex County, then the area around it is called Kemptown. Some of the property's are lovely, though parking is a nightmare, even for those with resident parking permits.

Also the state schools are shocking in the area, the private schools which are on the same road as the hospital Eastern Road are very good - Brighton College and also St Mary's Hall.

There is hardly any space for children to play.

I would look to move out of the city centre and towards either Hove where some of the state schools are good and you have more open parks for your child to play or towards Patcham area of Brighton where parking is free, again this is leafy and the state schools around there are good.

Watch out for the areas of Moulscombe, Whitehawk, Bevendean, Coledean and also Hollingdean. Can be quite rough in places and not a great place to bring up children unless you want them to copy the local kids who often end up in trouble with the law.

At the most in a car you'll be 10 mins drive away from the beach and the places i have mentioned can either be a short walk as in parts of Hove and Kemptown.

Patcham is accessable by bus to the town centre and also the beach or you can drive in, its a good 1 hour walk if you want the exercise.

Hope this helps, if you have any questions about areas or local schools etc i have lived here all my life and i can give you a good insight, even down the road name if you have looked at property's as to whether is a good idea or not.

Its a great city, and i wish you all the best with your move and hope you enjoy this place.
