Costa Rica has a good democratic govt., absolutely no national armed forces and a good economy. Cost of living is much lower than USA, and there are alot of North American expats there.

  1. I live in Costa Rica, it's beautiful and, yes, peaceful, there's no army. We are the most economically stable country in Central America, our president Oscar Arias is a Nobel Prize winner.

I live in the Caribbean coast and I recommend either Cahuita or Puerto Viejo.

And, yes, there are lots of expats (a lot).

By th way, Lexus is an idiot, yes, you have to be careful, just like in any other place in the world, it's common sense.

  2. I have found Costa Rica a wonderful place to live. It is not an extension of the US and takes some getting use to. It is a beautiful country

If you want information on how to get residency and many  other subjects regarding living in Costa Rica go to my web site

http://www.costaricarealtyone.com  and look at the Costa Rica Information tab.

  3. Costa Rica is a middle-income, developing economy, with a tradition of democracy. The life expectancy at birth here is one of the world’s highest--outstripping both the U.S. and the U.K., in fact. Tourist facilities are extensive, and because English is a second language for many Costa Ricans, the country feels very visitor-friendly.

The land itself is mostly coastline--beaches galore and great surfing. And, of course, the weather is simply made for leisure.

Great place to vacation or live!

  4. You might have to marry a costa rican woman and have a kid to live happy over there.

    ITS BEAUTIFUL DOWN THERE !!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. If you have a pension or have a fair amount of money you can get residency here. The cost of living is reasonably low but if you want to live exactly like you live in the USA, you may not save much at all. Imported goods are expensive, and most things you are used to will be imported. Heating costs don't exist, rent is cheap, food is about the same, cheaper for fresh produce, more expensive for anything imported.

Safety here is another issue. There is no army, true, but burglary and robbery are very common. People here have iron bars on their windows and razor wire on top of the fences for good reason. There is less poverty in Costa Rica than other Central American countries but it still has a large poor class. Don't expect to leave your house unattended and not get robbed. It's something everybody down here knows about. I like living here, but it isn't for everyone.

  6. God love you!

If I were twenty years younger I would do the same thing!

I have been going to Costa Rica for every year since l995 and love the time I spend there tremendously!

I would settle around Quepos since it is so close to Manuel Antonio Park - one of the most beautiful "reserves" in Costa Rica which is right on the Beach on the Pacific side!

Beautiful women, fantastic Beer "IMPERIAL", and great people!

Make sure you visit the Hotel Del Rey in San Jose to see the most beautiful women in the world who welcome you with a "Hey Baby - you want some company tonight?"
