Thinking of purchasing a 35' Hunter Sailboat ??

I live in MI and I am thinking about buying a 35’ Hunter Legend Sailboat. Up to now I have always had a 30’ Power Boat.

Can someone please give me some advice; as it will be my first Sailboat ..

1. Is this a good first sail boat?

2. What is top speed?

3. On a scale of 1 to 10 how is the craftsmanship?

4. Is a Hunter considered a good make ?

Please add any additional info you would like as this is new venture, with very little knowledge.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Have a safe and happy summer.

Kind regards

CLS.

  1. 1. I do not think this is a good boat for you. It sounds like your a person who is relatively new to sailing. My first recommendation is something under 30 feet long. The sails are very big, and if you are sailing shorthanded(which is better then not sailing at all), you will want smaller sails.

2.Your looking at a hunter... not a Melges. Spped isn't the reason you get a Hunter, you are looking for a comfortable day sailor.

3.If your truly interested, get a surveyor to look at the boat. I'll bet you the boat leaks, but so does every other boat.

4.I like Catalina more then Hunter. I would say a Catalina 27-30 with inboard will suit you.

  2. I can't give you any information or advice, other than...

    DOOO IT!
