  1. Ä°f you have a Turkish friend that would really help. Otherwise the ripping off part is no worse than any other foreign country.

  2. Been going to Turkey since 1989 and never been ripped off.  the people are amazing and so friendly.  I suppose that it depends on where you go, the more touristy the more you are likely to come across someone who will rip you off but the tourist police are very hot on clamping down on this.  Also most tourist areas now have an anti-hassling by-law where if they are caught hassling a bar/restaurant/shop can be closed for up to 3 days. Maybe this should be introduced in UK.

  3. Well I was recently in Marmaris and had an amazing time. (Almost) everyone I met was incredibly friendly, particularly the bar staff. Everything is fairly cheap, but like anywhere, you just wanna be careful you don't get ripped off.

You will get a lot of people trying to get you to come into their bar/restaurant as you're walking past but if you just keep saying "no thank you" they tend to back off. Eventually you don't even notice them :) Dunno where in Turkey you're planning on going, but personally I'd highly recommend it. Had a great time.

  4. You can be ripped off anywhere anytime even at home , so coming on holiday is no different..make sure you learn the currency rates etc so u know what you are paying for..speak with other holiday makers and ask there recomendations..Turkey is a fab place ith many honest people so please do not let these reviews change your mind..You will have a lovely holiday here..

  5. Just go its brilliant.

Just behave like you would anywhere in a foreign country. Check your prices, your change and if your gut instinct tells you that something is wrong then it probably is.

The turkish love us because we spend money so obviously if they think they can make a bit more than normal they will try, but just be careful. But its still cheaper than European holidays.

Avoid free scratch card scams that say you have won a free holiday or a piece of jewellery as they will put you in  a free taxi then whisk you off to become a victim of a hard sell holiday scheme or to a gold factory. But these scams happen everywhere.

I have been four times now, research your accomodation in trip advisor you can't go wrong.

  6. forıegners do get a hıgher price in Turkey most of the time but at the end of the day its still cheaper than anywhere else. İf you think your paying to much then haggle. or ask the price before you buy anything

  7. When I was in Turkey, everyone was nice and there were no problems at all, no one tried to rip us off. We did hear some stories about that kind of stuff, but it didn't happen to us. In fact, in the most places we could bargain about the price and get it much cheaper. I'm sure bad things happen everywhere, but my experience in Turkey was awesome. For example, the owner of a shop would leave his work just to show us something we wanted to see. I have never seen that anywhere else. They were all so nice.
