Am thinking of going for a job interview for a company in Blackpool, Cork. (currently live SE England).

Is the area good/bad/average? and what about the imediate surrounding areas (for socialising and finding place to live)

  1. The area is really good, the people are nice.

They have a little better weather than the rest of Ireland but you still get the rain, cold etc. there!

The clubs are good and the towns are very lively!!

Kerry is a county right beside Cork, It is very nice and the weather is good, theres a town in Kerry called Tralee which is very tourist orientated! It has good shops,  clubs, towns and theres a nice swimming pool there called the Aquadome but it is very touristy and is nearly always packed!

  2. Cork is really nice and Blackpool is not far from the city centre. You can get a place in the city centre to be in the middle of the action and get to work with a short bus ride or cycling.

You'll have a great time in Cork City, there are lots of bars, activities and it's very multicultural. County Cork and the South of Ireland in general is beautiful and picturesque and you'll have plenty of chances to spend nice days out.

Winter is coming so don't be disappointed with the weather when you get here - i would imagine it's not much different from SE England though!

Best of luck if you decide to go for the interview!

P.S. you can find a place to stay on www.daft.ie (they also have listings of apartments/houses to share). Rent can be quite expensive in the city centre but you can walk to everything and that's a big plus if you don't want to keep a car!
