Question:

Thinking outside the Box, CC Sabathia No-Hitter Edition ?

I find it funny that they want it to be an Error, this whole thing is stupid, people may now think they can just get an error just to save the No-Hitter, its not good for players to think that. Why would the team want the player to get an error?

Do you STILL think CC should get his no-hitter?

  1. hes a fantastic pitcher and pitched well enough to get a no hitter.  Unfortunately there are no cutting corners, that was a hit, it has been a consistent call all year so there is no argueing it.

I saw one infielder attempt to field a ground ball, it went over his glove and under his legs, it was called a hit.  There have been several otheres like this.  If it isnt over thrown, or bobble like crazy, its a hit.  I even saw a hit lost in the lights, it was a popup in left, landed inches next to the outfielder while he stood there for 8 seconds confused, given a hit.  Thats what i mean when i say consistent, we cant just change it to give him a no-hitter, thats not how it works.

  2. It absolutely should've been an error.  If a ss flubs a ground ball, it's an error.  How was C.C. flubbing that grounder any different?  I feel like he gave it an honest effort and didn't make the play.  error all the way, and no hint of "trying" to make an error to save the NH.

As to your 2nd question, yes I think players make errors on purpose to save a NH.  I haven't seen it often, but I have seen it, IMHO.  Hard to prove tho'.

  3. ok yea I do think that cc deservers. Now on sports center and mike and mike in the morning did say that they asked cc how do u feel that u did t get a no hitter. He replied ""I am just glad we got the win". Then they ask how would you feelif they overturnned the call and you get the no hitter. " thesame as ifeel now"

so yea I do think it's an error he makes that at I. His sleep just made an error. The brewers do have an appeal with major league baseball a d hopefully cc gets the no hitter.

Now guy who called it a run did say that after a call like that and he replays it but he still thinks it's a hit.

  4. As a Pirate fan, I thought the talk by Ned Yost and several of his players was just sour grapes until I saw the replay. CC, himself did not gripe or try to make excuses, his only comment was "It is what it is". This is a class statement from a class pitcher. Although the play in question--ruled by the official scorer as a hit--was a playable ball and had CC come up with it cleanly, he would have had the batter (Andy LaRoche). Therefore, due to his hesitation I really believe that it should have been ruled an error. Even LaRoche himself said he thought it was an error and was embarrassed when it was ruled a hit. In a game like this one, a hit should only be given when there is no doubt that it was a hit. This one is very shaky at best and CC deserved to get his no-hitter!

  5. YES!

You've gotta get the no-hitter, no matter what it takes.

  6. In any other situation that would have been a hit since it was the pitcher fielding the ball and they rarely get credited with an error.  I also don't think that he should get a no-hitter because they wouldn't even try and change that ruling if it wasn't a one hitter and since it was his fault he should not get the no-hitter.  Two other things, he didn't seem upset that it wasn't a no-hitter and it kinda ruins the moment if you have to celebrate the next day.  And players won't purposely make errors to save a no-hitter because they would just make the play, That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.  Purposely making an error wouldn't protect anything and it would make the pitcher work harder.  How can purposely making an error protect a no-hitter.  If the ball is hit so that you can make an error then it wouldn't be a hit anyway.  There's no way you can make a ball hit up the middle you can't get to an error.
