Thinking/thought process in humans..

this is kind of a confusing question i would imagine, but do you think that people can possibly come up with individual thoughts in this day and age, like think about it. everything that people come up with has branched off of something else. if you try to sit and think of something totally new that no one has ever thought of its kind of impossible, what would you think of? that doesn't have to do with something else in some way. maybe humans have always branched off their thoughts from something else since the beginning. maybe you cant think of something totally new on your own unless you have experienced it in some way.

  1. It is egocentric to think a thought has originated with us.

Man cannot create Only God has that prerogative.

Nothing in creation is without a cause the first cause is God the only un-caused cause. All other causes are derivatives of this un-caused cause. Just why we were given the gift of volition so that we may express our individualism through the gift of personality. All our thoughts are unique to us but that does not mean we are the source of this thought only the expression. We have arrived at this thought by a process of continued application of life. The continuation of life will expose us to ever greater experiences to express but it will never be our creation only uniquely our expression.

  2. Thoughts are nothing more than the self-rationalizion of our relationship to external influences.

Apple falls on Newton's head, he is in right place at right time (under an apple tree), hence the effect is insight into gravity and how objects attract each other.

If Newton had decided on that day to relax indoors, if it had been later in the season (all the apples having already fallen), of if he had chosen another tree to sit under, the cause that effected his inspiration and thought process never would have occured.

Years, if not another century, could have passed before gravity and classical physics would be defined.

    So, your theory is warranted.

Inventions and discoveries all seem like great ideas and thoughts, but they are nothing more than being in the right place at the right time when necessity combined with outside influences strikes.

    Take care,

  3. One example should prove that it does happen--Richard Branson's space ship and double fuselage delivery system. It starts flying next year, I think. But Edisons inventions were new, Einstein's ideas were new, etc.

What people do is abstract differentia from other people's genera; or discover a new genus from some differentia no one else put together.

  4. I do think new thoughts are possible. In twenty years from now our technology is going to advance. There will be someone who will excel in new thoughts to advance our technology. You are right that some knowledge branches, or is a process where one envelopes into the other, but it is the "new" thoughts that continue to keep the process advancing. We are not at a point in history where we are so advanced that there is nothing new to discover.

Also thoughts are not always spoken so it would be impossible to determine if the thoughts of each person in this world mirrors thoughts of everyone else or thoughts that have been thought. It is what an individual does with their thoughts, whether, mere "thoughts" or putting thoughts into action that determines if others know the thought existed previously.

  5. To create or be creative is not just to generate something totally unheard of nor unseen before, but it is also to make a connection in a unique perspective.

If not, nobody but yourself would be able to make sense of it.

One could easily make up a language from scratch, but it would not be meaningful unless it is also used by another person so ideas could be conveyed.  After all, thoughts may be unique, but what good is it if it could not be understood?

  6. new thoughts are possible yes.

If you mean a thought that has absolutely nothing to do with what has come before, I'd say it's possible, but highly improbable

  7. I think it depends on how tied down you are to various laws and principles in physics. Sometimes I feel dreams can very occasionally reveal things that might work, even though you cannot necessarily control where they go or how many physical laws they defy. Flying dreams seem to be common with people, but the Law of Gravity is so condemning.

  8. That's what creativity is about--combining concepts and perspectives that no one else has done so far. Paintings, songs, philosophies, stories; but also the sciences. There are always new discoveries, new inventions, new data and new experiences that constantly change the human condition. The way that people react to certain stimuli might be pretty constant, but there is always something new under the sun somehow.
