Third baseman Miguel Cabrera all set for MVP award – MLB Detroit Tigers News
Tigers’ this baseman Miguel Cabrera is having an excellent time on the plate this season. Cabrera has produced masterful performances this year with the bat and at defence. His ability to take Tigers out of trouble is what makes his an asset for Manager
Jim Leyland, who is convinced that Cabrera is the best hitter in Major League Baseball right now.
Cabrera made a slow start to the season but he improved his stats with each passing game. He transformed into a beast in the second half of the season, helping Tigers reclaim the number one status on the American League Central Division standings table.
If Cabrera can continue his excellent hitting form, surely he will be given the American League Most Valuable Player Award. But a guy like Cabrera will never be content with just an MVP award. He has eyes on a bigger price, which is leading his team to the
AL Central Division title glory for the second straight year.
Right now, Cabrera leads the American League in On-Base Percentage and batting average. Along with his team-mate Prince Fielder, he forms one of the most dangerous hitting combinations in the entire MLB.
Of course, Cabrera’s job is not done yet but what he has done for his club will be remembered for a very long time. In addition to being a match winner the guy has a great desire to pass on his valuable skills to hitters in Detroit’ Minor League system.
Cabrera will definitely need support from the likes of Delmon Young, Alex Avila, Fielder, Brennan Boesch and Austin Jackson. With end of the season coming near, other teams in American League will be playing to their maximum strength and it will be even
tougher for the Tigers to emerge victorious.
Cabrera will be hoping to take his impressive form into the playoffs to give Tigers some much needed confidence. Only time will tell if the big guy can do what he is required to do in these closing stages of the season to help his team make it to the World
Series finals. Of course, this is what the fans will be hoping for.
