Third phase of CSV Women’s Volleyball Continental Cup starts today – Volleyball news
The crucial third phase of the CSV Women’s Beach Volleyball Continental Cup is scheduled to start on Saturday, March 10 in Uruguay.
The beautiful Arenas del Plata Stadium in Montevideo’s Pocitos Resort will host the matches. Four female tandems from host Uruguay and Venezuela are up to fight for a slot in the final game of Olympic qualification round.
The winner of the third phase in Uruguay will join Argentina in the competition final phase, which is scheduled to be played in Argentina from June 2 to3. Eventually, the successful duo of the final will get the chance to represent South America at the upcoming
2012 London Olympic Games.
Uruguay is playing with two pairings in the competition. Uruguay 1 is composed of Lucia Guigou and Fabiana Gomez, while Uruguay 2 includes Karina Cardozo and Eugenia Nieto. Likewise, Venezuela will be presented by two teams. Karelys Mosquera and Frankelina
Rodriguez make VEN 1 and VEN 2 comprises of Orquidea Vera and Norisbeth Agudo.
Two matches will be played on the first day, where URU2 will take on VEN1 and URU1 will be challenged by VEN2. Following the same pattern, the second day of the competition will cover two matches. On Day2, following schedule will be followed: URU2 vs. VEN2
and URU1 vs. VEN1.
It is indeed a great opportunity for Uruguay to consolidate the increasing fame of beach volleyball in the country through this competition. The home duos will be equipped with enormous emotional support from local fans.
Besides, they will be playing in familiar conditions that will surely enhance their performance. The rowdy Uruguayan fans will be there to back-up their team. Hence, there are brighter prospects of victory for Uruguay in the CSV Continental Cup and they
should definitely cash the opportunity.
In the next run, the team that will clinch success in the continental final in Argentina will go straight into the Olympics.
However, the losing side will get another chance to make it to the Olympics. The loser of the final match will advance to the FIVB World Cup Olympic Qualification Tournament, which is due to take place in Italy.
