This Is Definitely Not Fair! Do You think it is?

This past weekend my parents went away and I stayed home by myself (I’m 17). Before they left my parents said I could have a few people over. So it was Friday night and I decided to have a few people over…my parents never said what their definition of “a few” is so there was like 20 people at my house. So at like 11:30 I heard someone come into my house and it was my one of my older sisters who is 25. (I guess my parents told her to comeover and make sure everything was ok idk)She made everyone leave and it’s not like it was out of control or anything and its not like my parents said I wasn’t allowed to have anyone over. And it’s not like the house was a mess either, there were just a lot of plastic cups, etc on the floor which my best friend and I were going to clean up before my parents came home anyway. It’s not like anything was damaged. So my parents got home on Monday night and they were like so how was your weekend and I was like fine. Then on Tuesday night I was about to go out for the night and my parents were like wait and then they were like so what did you do this weekend and I was like I just chilled and had a few people over like u said I could. Then they were like your sister told us you had a party and there were a lot of people here and I was like yeah I did and I don’t see what the big deal is I had a few people over ok now I gotta go…and then they were like no you’re not going anywhere tonight and you’re grounded for 2 weeks! And also I was supposed to be going to the beach with my friend this weekend but now I’m not allowed. That is not fair…I didn’t do anything wrong…they told me I could have people over and now I am getting grounded for it. Do you agree with me?

  1. Well if the party didn't go out of hand, I don't see what the problem was if they said you could have people over.  20 people is defined as "a few" to me at least, and it's their fault for not setting a limit on how many could come!  I would say it isn't fair if you're getting grounded for their mistake of not setting a limit defined by "a few."

PS - 20 people is not a lot, compared to the world.  Try telling them that.

  2. I AGREE.....................WITH YOUR PARENTS

  3. a "few" is 3...you maybe could have pushed it to 5 or 6 and still have been ok but 20? you can say all you want that you didn't do anything wrong but i seriously doubt you thought your parents would be ok with your having 20 people over when they said you could have a few. you're just mad you got caught...that sucks but you did abuse ur parent's even letting you have anyone over. don't fight this one. even though i think grounding you for 2 weeks is a bit much, i can't blame your parents for punishing you. if you're at least a moderately intelligent 17 year old, your parents know that you know a "few" is not 20 and therefore knowingly broke their rule.  apologize and don't play dumb next time your parents give you a rule. you're almost an adult, it seems like you need to do some growing up for sure.

ps. even saying that something isn't "fair" makes you sound really immature. you might as well be jumping up and down screaming "wahhhhh it's not fairrrrr!" like a 3 year old having a tantrum.

  4. A few is not 20 it's like from 2-5 ppl 5 @ the most so i think it was right for them to ground u but 2 weeks may be a lot depending on how many times u do this they could have only grounded u 4 like a week but u deserve it so good luck and the grounding should go bye quickly...

  5. A few is 2-5 people 20 is a crowd

  6. You exceeded the limit.  That is fair. :P deal with it.

  7. Let's go over the list of things you did wrong...

    1.  A few people is no more than 5/6.  20???  That's considered a party.  So you disobeyed your parents and took full advantage of the "freedom."

    2.  You lied to your parents.  They gave you the chance to come clean and what did you do?  LIE.  You probably doubled your punishment right there.

So I don't agree with you.  Your parents were fair.  You broke the rules and then lied about it.  If I were your parents you would be grounded till Halloween...and on Halloween you would be stuck giving out candy.

So grow up (you're 17 and acting like you're 12), suck it up, and take your punishment.

  8. you broke their rule now deal with the punishment you live in their house

be glad it was your sister who busted it up and not the cops

20 people is not a few no matter how you slice it up

    a few is 3-5 people

  9. Well they probably meant that you could invite 3 of your friends over to hang out, 20 people is alot of people.

I think that they shouldn't ground your for 2 weeks, but they were right to punish you.

Sorry, I know how you feel.

  10. Dfinition- Few- 3-4

ok so they were tough just explain why you did that and write an apology letter and make dinner and they might slack a little.

  11. i think that 20 people is quite a bit more than a few.

    maybe 4-5 would've been ok.

  12. A FEW is NOT 20,thats A LOT!!!

Apparently you dont understand that a few doesnt mean you can invite enough people to have a party!!

I dont blame them for grounding you,and im suprised they didnt say for a whole month

BY a FEW they meant 1-4 not that many!!!

    A couple is 2 a few is 3 a LOT is more than 10

  13. You deserved the grounding, plus if you were my daughter, you would also have trouble sitting down for a few days.

  14. I think it's fair. You know very well that "a few" doesn't mean 20.

By the way, I would have grounded you for saying "I had a few people over ok now I gotta go"......try to be more respectful of your parents.

  15. i think you know what a "few" means like three or four. they said a few not alot.

its your fault your grounded so know you have to deal with it

  16. A "few" is usually defined as around three.

Sorry, but I think your parents were right.

Don't try to justify your loopholing.
