This October, I am moving with my husband and 3 children to Sydney. Any tips on good for value place to live?

Moving from London for 2-4 years. Children are 13, 3 and 1 year old.

My husband will be working in Sydney. Anybody done this and can suggest a nice, safe suburb on the beach with decent schools, close to Sydney. Any tip you can share with me?

Northern beaches (Manly, Mosman, Narrabeen) are generally expensive in terms of property prices.

Eastern suburbs are close to beach, and might be a good option.  Suburbs like Bondi, Bronte, Maroubra, Coogee are nice and quite close to CBD.

Southern beaches like Cronulla is also nice but located 20kms away from CBD.

Engadine-a few good schools near by, about half hour (i think) from the city centre and near a nice beach (cronulla)

Maroubra's a good beach.  Suburbs around there are Matraville, Pagewood, Hillsdale, Kingsford.

Check out the Southern suburbs like Caringbah and Cronulla. they are both on the water and have a very friendly and family orientated atmosphere. They both have a train line and they are about a half hour drive to the city.
