I have been looking at the dogs from this rescue for quite some time, they have quite a few Grey Hound dogs, and I've noticed they put the same "about me" for ALL of the dogs. Its the same exact story.

http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/OH440.html thats their petfinder site. Look at these two seperate dog profiles, notice the stories:

Do you think these guys are legitimate and LAZY?

Isn't the whole point of petfinder to show a dogs individuality and give a personality basis for interested owners? Doesn't it defeat the point to post the same stories and just change the name?

  1. Yep. If the others can do it so can they

Just some examples from my local rescue Almost home

  2. WOW...I would say FAIL

not *all* dogs come from a sad place...they just needed a better life

  3. Whoa. Can you say mail merge?

I dont like how they said "I didnt know I was broken". To me, it seems sarcastic, as if they are mocking spay/neuter.

It's hard to tell if they are legit or not.

  4. Looks like they did the same thing with most of the other dogs, not just the Greyhounds - only with a different story.

Sounds like they're extremely lazy. They had enough time on their hands to copy and paste and change the age of the dogs, but they couldn't type up just a few sentences about each dog?

  5. Yes...very lazy. Not all these dogs were unwanted, though most probably were, some could have been put there because the previous owners had to move to a house where dogs were not allowed. It is just a message done over and over on each dog but changing the breed and name. You aren't going to find out anything about the dog if its exactly the same as the last 100 other pups.

  6. It looks like they have about 150 animals in their care. There are never enough hands, and they have got to be absurdly busy. Maybe give them the benefit of the doubt that they are giving their energies to the animals rather than taking extra time to write a new story every time.

    Good luck!

  7. It would be helpful if they had more information, but it is a very crowded rescue.     I don't see their 501(c)(3) non-profit status posted anywhere, but it doesn't necessarily mean they don't have it, or are not a good rescue.

I know someone who does free-lance photography, and volunteered at a local shelter to take adoptees' pictures.  They were portrait-quality, and the adoptions really took off.   Is that your local shelter?   If you have a talent for writing, and assessing dogs, I'm sure they'd welcome the help.

  8. i think it's just a "form letter" type thing. so no-one actually has to sit and type the real information.

    so yup! lazy.

  9. I've heard of this, it's ok the main thing is do you won't to help a dog or not?

  10. Yes, I would call it lazy but I would also wonder if people have "sponsored" a lot of these dogs. After a while you will see this from some rescue groups. Go to PetSmart and see how many different ways the cats that are rescued have been abandoned. The stories are remarkably similar.

I notice that this rescue is from Cincinnati Ohio. I would check with the better business bureau (BBB) to see if they have had any complaints. If you have time on your hands you could see if they are actually registered as a non profit with the State of Ohio to operate as a non-profit business. This can be done on-line. I believe in Ohio there is a Greyhound rescue that is located in Northern Ohio.

  11. I would give them the benefit of the doubt and check out the dog myself. Could be they are understaffed. Could just be a lack of people who know how to write. Could also be a poorly run shelter in it for money rather than non-profit caring for dogs. I have seen both kinds,
