  2. That is in direct conflict with the HIPPA laws.  If they connect a name with symptoms they can be sued. On the other hand if they are just joking around without identifying the patient, the only thing you can do is say "I'm sure that patient wouldn't appreciate this conversation" if you work there, or "I hope you don't talk about me behind MY back" if you are the patient.
