i want to know if i should buy a First Act Discovery FD483 8 Piece Drum Set for 13 year old son.

  1. Look into getting a cheaper "PEARL" brand set. They're perfect for young teenagers as they are friendly on the budget and stand up to beating pretty well. First Act's are more likely to break,there sound is not as great either.

  2. Well, personally, I wouldn't trust First Act- they're not a really good company when it comes to instruments. In fact, I've even heard they're pretty fragile. But if you're son's a beginner and he's not sure if he wants to take drumming as a full-time hobby, then I guess it would be all right- y'know, just to try it out.

    But if he is serious, I recommend a Tama or Pearl kit and some pretty good cymbals like Sabian or Zildjian- but only if he's serious. If not, then don't go wasting your cash on the expensive stuff like that... But only time will tell, huh?
