  1. I tell my kids. NO helmet no brains!

Should it be a law? NO

  2. a brain bucket is a MUST for all ages

  3. every age! Helmets are important for everybodys head! Not age!

  4. It should be " Let those who ride decide". Don't try to push your opinions off on other people, when a man reaches a certain age he can make his own decisions. I don't wear a helmet, and you can preach all of your "coma"," vegetable", " brain dead" etc,etc that you want. I don't believe most of it, but even if I did I still wouldn't wear one, because I don't like them. I don't preach to you to not wear one, and I don't want anyone preaching to me. When You turn 21, do what YOU want to do, not what the insurance companies want you to do . The majority of fatalities in auto accidents are due to head injuries, but in Pa. its illegal to wear a helmet while driving an auto. Could it be that the people that make these laws don't want to wear a helmet either, but since they are too out of shape to ride a motor cycle, they'll just push their bull**** off on the bikers, and say "we really care about your safety, we know your not smart enough to make  up your on mind so we well do it for you". s***w Big Bro.

  5. Safety is not conditional with age. Helmets is always good.

  6. EVERY MOTORCYCLIST NEEDS TO WEAR A FULL FACE HELMET!!  PERIOD!!

    That is my position.

Until drivers become more responsible and we work to eliminate Driver Error as the cause for hundreds of thousands of accidents every year, a motorcyclist needs to be as protected as possible.

Now I will not advocate wearing full race leathers when the temps are over 90 degrees for instance.  But the wearing of a helmet is the best piece of protection in the event your motorcycle goes down.

I am sure someone will pipe up with the same old tired arguments.

"Helmets are too hot"  So is riding a motorcycle when the temps are above 90 degrees.  I equate it to riding into a hairdryer set on HIGH.

Helmets restrict your vision"  No they don't.  People making these claims never offer a shred of evidence to support their claim.  The roof supports in a car restrict your vision a great deal more than ANY helmet.  Yet that is not a problem?

Helmets restrict your hearing"  This statement is often made by someone running straight pipes on their machine.  I for one am glad helmets restrict my hearing.  On long rides I wear ear plugs to lessen wind fatigue.  With a quiet machine underneath me I am able to hear vehicles around me.  That adds to ability to increase my situational awareness of my surroundings.

"Helmets are too heavy"  Either exercise your neck and shoulders or shell out the extra $$ for a premium full face helmet from the premium helmet manufacturers.

Make the right choice and wear a helmet every time you ride.  Your friends, family and society will thank you.

  7. a child as old as 5 who can already ride a bicycle is advised to wear a helmet, what more if this same child would be riding on a motorcycle. wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle is as important as buckling up your seatbelt in a car.

  8. I strongly believe it should a Federal Mandatory Law that ALL riders wear a DOT, or Snell approved helmet!

IT'S "NOT FAIR" to the riders that wear a helmet that they have to pay higher insurance costs to PAY for the riders that don't wear a helmet.

Also I am a strong believer that the government knows whats best for us and protects us, even when we are too stupid to know better.

Case in Point: an average motorcycle rider is a working class person that contributes to society that produces to our economy and pays taxes. He rides without a helmet, he wrecks, gets injured for life where he CANNOT work and produce and pay taxes, so the rest of us working class has to produce and pay taxes to support him!

I have strong feelings on this subject and I am writing letters to state and federal legislators and FIGHTING for strict helmet laws, the laws I want make it mandatory that ALL riders wear a FULL FACE HELMET, no skull cap helmets allowed!

  9. Any body who is riding or just on a bike should have protective kit on.

    Broken bones hurt, but heal.

Broken skull's hurt more and sometimes DONT heal.

  10. Well, it depends on the particular person.  If someone's skull is VERY thick, as in "not much room left for brains" thick, then a helmet isn't necessary.

But if you are the type whose skull could be easily split by something as cushy as pavement, then you should wear one.

  11. Most of the Ones who say it's absurd haven't slid down the pavement on their Face without a Helmet on. I have done so with a helmet on  and don't reccomend it without One!

  12. Hi,

Please donot drive without a  helmet.

I am a living example for the life saved (for me ) and living because of the helmet which I wore  because  I  met with an accident (while driving my  motorcycle in the chennai city to save a child which crossed the road all of  a sudden  I sweard my bike to save the child but got crashed and tossed off from the bike and crashed on the median road) YES this happened in the year 2005 and because of helmet (full face)

I was saved and i was there in ICU for head injury and the neuro surgen told my wife that because of the helmet only "your husband survived" and it is only some bruises and no operation is required it is only a facial palsy  and because of the helmet pressure one of the nerve got squezed and after physiotheraby it will be alright This is what the Dr who saved my life told(paralysis on right side of the face )

Nw Today i am completely normal and no indication of me having met with accident.

It is only the gods gift of my life and helmet which was giving a life because of god. and the DR who is also god send

Please wear helmet  always when ever you drive your bike.

Take this as a friendly advice and for your own safety of life.

    Thanks & Regards

  13. I don't think I've ever come across anyone who thinks wearing a helmet is absurd.

I can't imagine anyone doubts the safety aspect of wearing a helmet in the event of a crash, the issue has always been whether it should be compulsory to wear one or not.

When people have an issue with helmets that's the issue they have.

I come from a country where they aren't compulsory and now live in one where they are....on balance I prefer to wear one regardless since the last time I looked I was unable to buy a new head.

Other people often think differently and prefer to trade off on the perceived freedom not wearing a helmet gives them against the protection they might gain from it.

The same argument applies to leathers, boots, gloves....I wouldn't ride without them but some folk are happy in shorts and flip flops.

I would argue that children are unable to judge for themselves what is safe and are more prone to injury than adults.

There are lots of things we don't let children do until they are adults and I'd be inclined to think riding bikes without being protected should be one of them.

  14. Helmets are as important for 2 wheeler riders as important are the brakes to the bikes.

  15. Yes everyone under 30

    Thank you socialist Max C.

Ive riden year round for 40 odd years, and have never owned a full face for the road.

The one I owned for the track was picked out of my face when it exploded.

  16. You do not specify the type of vehicle! So - helmets should be compulsory for ALL ages and ALL vehicles that are permitted to travel on the roads.

  17. Two good reasons to wear "buckets":

Indian Larry Dies of Head Injuries

    8/31/2004

According to news reports custom builder and stuntman, Indian Larry, died on Monday while performing a motorcycle stunt at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center in Concord, NC. The motorcyclist gained fame as a participant on the Great Bike Build Off on the Discovery Channel.

Indian Larry was performing a standing stunt on a moving motorcycle in front of 8000 people during the Liquid Steel Classic and Custom Bike Series show when he fell off the bike. He sustained massive head injuries and was not wearing a helmet.

The man who rose to fame after appearing on Discovery Channel's Great Bike Build-Off", was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where was pronounced dead.

    **************************************...

Gary Busey bitched about motorcycle helmet laws, then had a wreck on his motorcycle and was seriously injured while not wearing a helmet.

  18. I remember a lecture I went to on HEAD INJURIES... and the Lecturer was showing slides to give examples between MASHED BRAIN and SMASHED BRAIN... and ALL of the slides were of HEAD INJURIES that MOTORCYCLE RIDERS had sustained that KILLED THEM when they ran their motorcycle into a car or a tree WITHOUT WEARING A HELMET.

You may think it's YOUR business if you want to wear a helmet or not... but it is EVERYONES business when YOUR lack of personal security results in your getting a MASSIVE HEAD INJURY and you end up being in a COMA for years UNTIL YOU DIE because everyone has to chip in to pay for your years of hospitalization

  19. Only a moron doesn't use a helmet or seatbelt but it should be a personal decision, not something mandated by Big Brother.
