I have had type 1 diabetes for 15 years out of my 17 years on this earth. I have nearly dies 3 times for something i did not cause, i have had laser 5 times in my eye for something i did not cause, i am growing much slower then normal for something i did not cause, it very hard to loose weight for something i did nothing to get, as millions others i have multiple injections and pricks ot my finger, i have lost a carefree childhood, as millions have as well, and finally my question is how someone with everyday problems, relationships, stress, work, or just school can be depressed when they dont realize what they have, I think some people are so ungrateful to be alive, to ignore all they have and take what they have in vain, basically i want to know why people act depressed over ordinary things when they have so many things that i would do anything for, simple things like being able to eat with putting a needle inside me., i do realize there is worse things then what i have, and that it can be so much worse, this is just a random question

  1. People that suffer from depression have an imbalance in their brain. It is not something they can control.

Suffering from depression is not like being ungreatfull !!!

Basicaly, the brain normaly send out hormones (called serotonin and dopamine...) and people that suffer from depression don't get the right amount of hormones released in their brain.

It's not about self-pitty, it's really a phisical problem in their brain's function. I know you have it hard and believe me ( being bipolar, I suffer myself from deppression...) and I know alot of other people have it harder than me...and I sometimes hate myself for being depressed when I have so much!! But like I said, it's not something we control...

Kinda like your diabetes: you can't force yourself to produce insulin (therefore you must inject it)...same goes for people suffering with depression: they can't force their brains to produce the missing hormones and that's why they must take anti-depressant (wich gives serotonin and dopamine)

It's like having someone else controling your brain/your moods....it really sucks!! I'm not saying I'm worst of than you but...just like you, I can't take that illness away as I wish...

hope this clears it out for you;)

    take care:D

  2. Really sad to hear about your abnormal growth and suffering and i hope the only way from here is up. as for those people you are talking about that are ungrateful about all their gifts/talents/normalities, i am one of them. But I don't pursue to be depressed, i dont like to be depressed, i dont like to complain, i dont like to unsuccessfully kill myself, its my brain thats a little off and leads me off track. I am sure you have heard of chemical imbalance, bipolar disorder etc. its much like the physical disorders/diseases except its mental and so not visible. I hope I am not offending you, that is not my intention, I am just trying to show you a different perspective that you might not have thought of.

  3. Well, I agree with you. I know that there are people out there that aren't as grateful for life as you are. But that is what they have still to realize. So, just continue living your life as best you can and just wish for the best for others. Because, one day, it will hit them.

    Best wishes for you

  4. OMG ur right...i dont have diabetes, but i dont think ive realized how grateful i should be ...tht sounds so cheezy but wow.thanx i hope everything goes gr8 4 u and life  will b gr8.
